WHY THE FLAP OF THE BLADES?

The beating of the blades is an old French expression which indicated, in the days of the Compagnie des Indes, the place where the waves, or "blades", came to die on the reef of the island of Reunion while it was s' still called Bourbon Island.

Generally used in the expression "from the beating of the blades to the top of the mountains", this old phrase was used in particular in the 19th century to define the territorial extension that the Compagnie des Indes granted to the colonists of Bourbon Island.
In view of the privileged location of the hotel, it was only natural that it bears this name inscribed in the very roots of the history of Reunion.
