Grand Raid Reunion 2020 Canceled

The Grand Raid of Réunion 2020 is officially and unfortunately canceled due to the coronavirus epidemic and health risks. you can read below  the official press release  made today September 11 by the prefecture of Reunion.

A consultation phase was held this week with the mayors of La Réunion concerned by the holding of this event and the organizing committee of the Grand Raid. Work sessions were also organized to examine the health protocol allowing the race to be held while controlling the risk of the virus spreading.
Despite the quality of this health protocol presented by the organizing committee of the Grand Raid, the epidemic evolution in the territory does not allow the holding of a sporting event of this magnitude.

The State supports the actors of tourism in Reunion
The health crisis has major repercussions on the tourism sector in Reunion Island. In response to this situation, the State is setting up several support mechanisms:

  the solidarity fund for businesses is extended until the end of the year and businesses in the tourism sector can access it under simplified terms;

  partial activity can be set up for companies in the sector;

  the recovery plan will be broken down into roadmaps by territory which will notably contain specific measures for the strategic tourism sector;

  the communities are also committed to supporting the sector. This is particularly the case of the Réunion Region with the tourist check.
