Speed bump, a village between the mountain and the ocean

Hamlet in the north-west of Reunion Island, Speed bump belongs to the municipality Ownership. Located at an altitude of 1,130 meters above sea level, the village of Dos d'Âne is one of the entrances to the Mafate Circus. The population of Dos d'Âne, of almost 1750 inhabitants, makes a living from agriculture and in particular from the planting of different vegetables.

Want to gain height? Do like the bird and treat yourself to a paragliding flight! From the air, be dazzled by the breathtaking view of Mafate, Piton des Neiges and the bay of St.Paul. Calmly finish your flight to land on the airstrip along the Rivière des Galets.

Do you prefer to keep your feet on the ground? Speed bump is the ideal place to enjoy beautiful hikes. Three of these should get your full attention, it's up to you to decide which one is right for you.

The Cap Noir - Roche Verre Bouteille route is one of the simplest routes when you want to go into ecstasies at the sight of Mafate Circus. A rather short loop of about 3 km where the only difficulties will be a short steep slope and 5 ladders, in short nothing insurmountable.

For a slightly more sporty stroll, choose the Kiosque d'Affouches, direction Piton Batard and Piton des Fougères. Incredible landscapes will line your route such as the valley of the Saint-Denis river or the forest of the Plaine d'Affouches.

If long hikes don't impress you, the Lataniers trail is for you. Enjoy the vegetation and the perspective of Circus of Salazie and of Mafate at the level of the Roche Écrite platform.
