Welcome to the land of volcanoes
Impossible to travel to Reunion without contemplating the Piton de la Fournaise and to achieve this you will have to go through the Plain of Sands. Volcano route located in the south of the intense island and culminating at 2350 meters above sea level, it extends No Bellecombe to the Rempart des Sables.
Produced by the intense volcanic activity of Piton de la Fournaise, then Demi-piton, the repetitive eruptions of Piton Chisny and Haüy have finished covering the Plain of Sands slag. It is one of the most hypnotizing settings on Reunion Island.
Often referred to as a lunar or Martian mineral landscape, the Plaine des Sables is a desert of cooled lava with vermilion and golden tones where you can stand up against nature, which has taken back its rights.
