Maïdo is the observatory of Mafate circus

The Piton du Maido is located on the heights of the town of Saint-Paul to the west of the Reunion Island just at the limit of Mafate circus. With its 2,200 meters of altitude, you will be able to have a breathtaking view of the caldera and the intense western part of the island.

In second position of the most visited natural sites just behind the No Bellecombe, the Maïdo will offer you various activities and spectacular panoramas. Cross the Hauts tamarind forest, endemic trees from Reunion Island, which will lead you to the Maïdo belvedere. Once at the top, let yourself be dazzled by the panorama of Mafate circus, wild and protected landscape of Réunion. Observe the white sand beaches of the west coast with the Indian Ocean as far as the eye can see.

Do you want to visit the Mafatais? Take the hiking trails, direction Mafate caldera. Want to go faster? Rent a quad to explore the Maïdo site. Go down the western slope of the coast by mountain bike to Saint-Gilles-les-Bains, the Mega-avalanche takes place there every year.

Let yourself be tempted by an original activity, the summer toboggan! To practice with family or friends with a drop of 40 meters in a pleasant setting with lush vegetation. Go to an equestrian center for a short horseback ride through the woods and surrounding fields. The more experienced can go directly to the summit of Maïdo and its impressive viewpoint.
