Kélonia participates in research programs to protect marine turtles and their habitats in Reunion Island and the Indian Ocean. For this, the observatory has entered into partnerships with teams from all over the world. The Kélonia care center welcomes injured or sick turtles, to release them at sea once they are cured.
Kélonia offers 5 guided tours per day at no extra cost at 10:00 am, 11:30 am, 2:00 pm, 3:15 pm and 4:30 pm.
The site does not allow the use of megaphones, therefore guided tours are limited to 30 people. Pregnant women are given priority. These guided tours are exclusively in French.
Audio guides are available at reception. The rental is 2 € per audio guide (an ID must be left as a deposit). The audio guides allow visits in French, English, German, Spanish and French with visual impairments.
