Boucan-Canot beach

Boucan-Canot beach in the west of Reunion Island is located in the town of St.Paul. Pleasant white sand beach bordered by casuarinas and coconut palms, it is part of the Réunion marine nature reserve. Boucan-Canot beach is divided into three parts.

The bathing part just in front of the lifeguard station. Some just soak their feet in it, but you can jump into the Indian Ocean and brave the waves against the tide, each with their own technique. Its bottom is partially covered with rock and corals, an environment conducive to marine species of intense island. It's time to go snorkeling, a snorkeling excursion. Observe tropical fish and with any luck you might stumble upon a turtle or stingray.

The natural pool area is surrounded by volcanic rock where stones and sea urchins have been dislodged to make room for sand. Its shallow depth makes it a popular area for the youngest and reassures parents. Remain vigilant all the same, sometimes the swell of the Indian Ocean is right of the development and some waves are likely to pass over the rock.

The last part houses the surf spot at Boucan-Canot beach. Abandoned in 2013 following the increasingly frequent shark attacks, it reconnects with the Reunionese surfers in 2015 after the installation of anti-shark nets. Perfectly suited for beginners, you can try to slide on your first waves or at least try to find your balance.
