Honey Green, a spotlight on Reunion's agriculture
The first event of the year on Reunion Island, Miel Vert honors local agriculture and particularly beekeepers. Present every year in January for more than 35 years at the Plain of Cafres in the commune of Tampon, this agricultural fair welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
Its name comes from a variety of honey containing green reflections. Produced by honey flies pollinating the flowers of endemic trees in Réunion, green honey is a rare and exceptional product.
For 10 days, you will have the opportunity to discover Reunion's farms. The breeders invite you to meet you and promote the quality of their meat. Go and meet animals, cows, pigs, goats, sheep or even chickens.

The Miel Vert agricultural fair begins with the election of Miss Plaine-des-Cafres and you can enjoy the funfair and the market every day. Follow the animal competitions and bet on the winner. Take part in the various workshops and learn to cook local products. Do you prefer to eat rather than cook? Head to the tasting stands, feast on what Creole gastronomy has to offer you.
