The lentil festival is an unmissable event in Cilaos circus. Each year, it is 5 days of festivities during the month of October to promote the legume that makes the success of the city of Cilaos throughout the Reunion Island. The traditional cultivation of the Cilaos lens has been exploited in the caldera officially since 1857, but it has been known on the island since 1833.

This vegetable is sown mainly in the islet of Cordes et Bras Sec in the circus from April and is harvested in September. The opportunity for planters to sell their product the following month on the stands of the lentil festival.

Its inimitable taste comes from its mixture of 11 varieties and of course from the weather and the land of Cilaos. Chef Jean-Pierre Coffe, a fervent defender of local products, described Cilaos lentils as the best in the world.
