Presentation of the village of Hell-Bourg
Hell-Bourg was discovered in 1832 during a goat hunt by Adrien Pignolet de Fresnes and Adam de Villiers. Very quickly, the potential of the thermal springs present in the village is exploited and the locality is gradually populated. The high society of the coast comes to relax at the thermal baths leading to the construction of second homes, rentals, hotels and a casino. The water sources dried up in 1948, marking the end of the cures, but the village remained attractive.
Hell-Bourg is classified as the most beautiful village in France and is one of the 15 villages that have received the label Creole village. The magnificent Creole villas built in the 19th century have retained all their charms and the tropical climate enjoyed by this hamlet makes it a place with a green and generous landscape.
