Recipe for the traditional Reunionese lobster curry

Lobster curry de la Réunion is the most coveted dish for the end of year celebrations in Réunion. Like the curry of camaron shrimp or curry it is a culinary specialty not to be missed during your stay at the meeting.

Here is the recipe for Reunion-style lobster curry.

Ingredients. for 8 or 10 people.
  • 6 to 8 lobster tails.
  • 5 cloves of garlic.
  • 2 or 3 medium onions. 150 g approximately.
  • 4 or 5 tomatoes. 350 g approximately.
  • A piece of ginger. Half an inch.
  • A branch of Thyme. 2 tbsp. coffee leaves approx.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Salt.
  • 3 or 4 tablespoon of oil
  • Optional (2 or 3 small peppers if you want spicy).

 

 

 

Preparation:

Clean and cut the lobsters in half lengthwise.
Leave in the fridge time to prepare the spices.
Peel the garlic cloves and onions.
Cut the tomatoes into small cubes.
Slice the onions.

Prepare the “crushed mixture”: crush or mix the garlic with the salt, thyme and a piece of ginger. In a pot, heat the oil over high heat and brown the chopped onions. Stir for a minute or two, then add the crushed mixture and turmeric. Scorch the spices so that they take on a beautiful golden color.
Then add the crushed tomatoes. Stir and let them stew for about a minute, still over high heat, before adding the lobsters.
Mix well, cover and stir from time to time until the lobsters take on a nice color.
To finish, add a large glass of water (about 3dl) and cook over low heat and covered for about 15 minutes.

    Il manque quelque chose d’important 🙂
    Le riz à faire cuire à part et peu etre un petit rougail mangue relève bien le gout !
    Le gout lontan du gol les hauts 🙂
